While still working full-time at The News Journal in Delaware in the early 1990s, I was awarded a fellowship to study for and gain my Elementary Education teaching certification in Delaware. I went to college while working full-time and eventually left to become Assistant Director of an intense early intervention Reading program, a role I continued in until my Student Teaching and subsequent classroom care.
