I was raised by a liberal Protestant minister in Indiana, so my exposure to religion literally begins before I was born. I went to Northwestern University (1981-1985)and received my BA in Religion, focusing on Buddhism. I also took a great number of history, philosophy and political science courses. I then went to Cambridge University and received my BA and MA in Theology (1985-1987).
