I am currently attending school to become an elementary education teacher for K-8. I have a nephew with autism and have helped him in his schooling as he is home schooled. I have had success with him by adapting my teaching methods to best suit him and his needs. For example, he was having a hard time with the letters b and d and in order to make it easier for him to recognize, I told him a b looks like a big belly, and that starts with b, and a d is a backwards b. This seemed to help him recogn.
