I have worked in Japan as an English teacher and lawyer. I taught English in junior high schools and high schools for Mombusho, Japan’s Ministry of Education, for three years. The emphasis was on reading and writing, with the goal to help students pass rigorous university entrance examinations. Although spoken English was less emphasized, I created an English Speaking Society for interested students which met after school. I also assisted a local group of Japanese doctors with real-world convers.
